Houston, TX – Dec. 14, 2006 – Linux Journal, a Belltown Media publication, today announced the appointment of Laura Whiteman to the position of Director of Sales.

As Director of Sales, Whiteman will hold ultimate responsibility for developing, implementing, and managing the company's advertising strategies, from business, sales and technical perspectives. Utilizing Linux Journal's market-leading print and on-line properties, she will work closely with Linux-related companies to develop short- and long-term plans for realizing their marketing and sales objectives.

In her previous role with Linux Journal, Whiteman excelled as Regional Sales Manager since joining the magazine in 2005. Before coming on board with Linux Journal, she worked with STG Interactive, a Paris-based Internet software developer, as the Marketing and Public Relations Director. Additionally, she spent more than 10 years working for Reed Business Publishing/Cahners in both London and Paris, most recently in the position of Regional Sales Manager.

"Laura's strong experience in technology, publishing and sales makes her an ideal fit for Linux Journal and ensures her success in directing the sales efforts of the magazine and its on-line properties," said Rebecca Cassity, General Manager. Whiteman has a B.A. in Art History and English from Bucknell University, as well as an M.A. in Communications from European University in Clamart, France. Whiteman is based out of Hobe Sound, Florida where she will continue to reside.
